Borough Market

The Advertising project, set in the second year was a live project for the client Borough Market. Our brief was to produce poster designs which promoted Borough Market, but with the audience of the locals of that area, not the tourists coming to visit it. The markets aim was to get more of the local people to come to the market to buy their weekly shops, rather than straight to the supermarkets and to appreciate the fresh foods they have locally.

I came up with the slogan "Think Local Think Borough."

A few pages from the sketchbook from the project, showing research and mindmaps, thumbnails and idea generation building up the final designs.

I produced a series of poster designs using my slogan.
Strawberry, Carrot and Banana backgrounds.
Borough Market is great for its fruit and veg, so I decided these would make appropriate backgrounds, and as these are symbolic fruit and vegetables these really worked. The design which stands out the most to me, is the Strawberry design, and I think that the slogan works well against it and definately aims towards the right audience.

I have sent my favourite Borough Market promotional poster to the client, showing it on different forms of merchandise to give a feel of how it would look.

FMP

For my final major project I have chosen to rebrand Urban Outfitters.

Los Diasde Los Muertos

This is my Mexican sugar skull from the Ethnic Art project. I begun with looking into Mexican Art as a whole, and exisiting Day of the Dead illustrations. From there I went on to draw up my own version of an A3 piece of layout paper, starting with pencil then going over in fine liner once finished. I then scanned in this drawing, to then colour up on the Mac. I used the programme Illustrator and I live traced the drawing, then live painted it to colour it in. It look a lot of time, as the design was very detailed but I feel it was worth it because this is one of my proudest pieces from the two years.
