Redesigning Cafe Menu

My cousins husband's cafe/restaurant in Folkestone "Elinor" was being revamped. The interior, the exterior and everything else, this including the design of their main menu.

I was asked to put together a simple menu layout together, including fun drawings of food to illustrate the dishes on the menu. 

I designed the front cover of the menu, the two page spread inside and the back.

This is the back of the Menu, this shows the layout of the menu as a whole and the styles of illustrations that went along with it.

I have used flicker to show pieces of my work, weather they be outcomes, experimentation or sketchbook pages.

I sent my flicker address as a source of portfolio of my work to Universitys when they requested online portfolios after sending them my application.

Christmas Project

In the first year, our second project was the Christmas project, which was a live project where we was to produce final outcomes of Christmas cards for stationary and card shop, Paperchase. We would experiment and produce a range of different designs to come up with several cards to put forward to Paperchase. Paperchase came into college and had a look at the cards, picking their favourites from the two groups, which would then be printed and sold for the following Christmas, winners receiving a cheque as their prize.

Three boys from our group (Group A) won: Bradley, Brandon and Billy.

These were my designs for the Paperchase Christmas card competition.

These are my two favourites from my card designs, these designs used my Alan Fletcher style image making of Santa Claus, and a screenprint of a Christmas tree I'd produced in the print room.

William Morris

This is a piece of work of mine from the first year, from within the first project, which was self promo. We had to produce a wallpaper design in the style of William Morris, starting with a design on a tile, which was then repeated to create a wallpapered pattern.

This is my outcome. The left shows a black and white version of the drawn illustration which has then been fine lined, on layout paper. The right shows the design coloured up using pantone pens.

Typography Project

One of the projects from the 2nd year of the course included the Typography project. These are three of my outcomes from within this project.

Just My Type poster:  

We each chose a typography book, from which we then had to produce a poster to promote it. My book was "Just My Type" which was a book all about the different fonts/typefaces there are. I produced a poster, which advertised the book, using lots of different fonts for each of the letters to spell out the book name as I felt it worked as it linked in with what the book was all about. 

Handmade Type Alphabet poster:

We each had to choose a material which we would then produce an alphabet from, using the material to create each of the letters A - Z. My chosen material was string.

Alan Fletcher Type:

An alphabet inspired by the artist, Alan Fletcher. Whos style is very bright, and childlike. He uses overlapping and cut outs within his work. This is my version of an alphabet, influenced by his work with type.
